Poland Announces 19-Strong Squad Set to Compete at the 2015 Kazan World Championships

The biggest noise being made regarding Poland leading up to the 2015 World Championships surrounds Konrad Czerniak. The 25-year-old threw down the world-leading time in the 100 meter butterfly at the Spanish Open Spring Championships at the end of March. His time of 51.37 has yet to be challenged, though thirteen other athletes join him under the 52 second ceiling this season. Radoslaw Kawecki is another Polish swimmer to watch; he’s put up the fifth fastest time in the world this year in the 200 meter backstroke.

Other big news came when rising USC junior Michael Domagala secured a spot on the Polish Worlds team after his fifth place finish in the 200 meter freestyle at the Polish National Championships. Domagala won’t be the only USC athlete competing for Poland. Kasia Wilk, six-time Polish 100 meter freestyle champion and national record holder in the event, will be competing as well. Another woman to watch for on Poland’s team will be Anna Dowgiert; the national record holder in the 50 fly has put down the 16th-fastest time in the world so far this year.

The Polish Swimming Federation, Polski Zwiazek Plywacki (PZP), announced earlier this month that these athletes are just a small part of a team made up of nineteen of Poland’s finest– these swimmers will be representing Poland at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan. Here’s the full list:
