An alleged road rage incident on Sunday in Copenhagen, Denmark has left Danish Olympic swimmer Jeanette Ottesen and her boyfriend Marco Loughran injured.
Ottesen told TV2 Sport that the alleged attacker was angered because he thought that she was driving too slowly. Ottesen stated to the Danish television network that the man started an altercation with them, and began to beat Loughran, hitting him in the head repeatedly. When she tried to defend him, Ottesen stated that the man attacked her where she suffered injuries to her fingers. Ottesen broke one finger and sprained another.
Loughran, a former Florida Gator and British Olympian, suffered a gash in his head, a split eyebrow, several broken teeth, and complications to his shoulder.
The timing of the injuries for Ottesen is less than optimal considering how close the World Championships are. According to TV 2 Sport, Ottesen is taking some time off to recover from the injury. She has allegedly tried swimming since the incident, however she experienced pain.
She told TV 2 Sport that she thinks she will be ready for the national team training camp in Croatia, a camp designed specifically to prepare the Danish team for the World Championships.
Ottesen is one of Denmark’s medal hopefuls. She won one gold medal at the 2011 World Championships, and another at the 2013 World Championships.

my second phrase (you did read the “EVEN”,didn’t ?) shows my surprise with an occurrence like that.I know how healthy and “state-of-the-art” country Denmark is as whole.So, an event like that DOES surprise someone like me from a country with fifty thousand homicides and over that in deaths by traffic accidents per year.

Status on Marco: One split eyebrow, 4 split teeth, a hole in the head and some of his ear demolished.
A number of other foreign people took hold of Marco, dragging him away from the attacker, not exactly helping Marco but telling him to get lost. Marco was furthermore kicked by the attacker several times before and after this.
No wonder the Danish Peoples Party just received a very good election result obtaining almost one third of all Danish votes!!!
Whenever there is a really brutal and hateful attack on innocent people, it’s almost always, if not always, someone with another cultural background, non-European to be specific.

As somebody of “non-European” background living in Europe, I don’t know whether to be concerned about how common opinions like yours are becoming or not. Why is it exactly your fear ‘us’? I am just like you, but my skin is brown, we are no different. Please try to think less negatively about us in the future, we just want the same things as you from life.
OK Dee, you are right, I’m generalizing, I’m not trying to say all are like that. Maybe I should say:it’s almost always people with a primitive middle-east mindset. With a hostile attitude towards the people and country they are living in. Their habits and views are not shared by the native population. One wonder why they are here at all.

Is Loughran still in the sport or did he retire before? I met him at the 2011 Duel in the Pool. Such a nice guy.
Elite swimmers like this have a limited number of times to show their stuff to get to the top tier. Get sick, trip on the stairs, or fall in the shower at the wrong time and you might miss the big meet or trial. You may get another chance but it might be years away. This just shows how fragile and unpredictable this all can be.
