NCAP’s Eireni Moshos gave her verbal commitment to swim with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels for the 2016-2017 season.
Moshos is an extremely versatile swimmer, arguably without a weak stroke. She can swim it all from sprint freestyle to backstroke, to fly, to IM which might be the strongest of all her events.
In the 200 yard IM, Moshos is a 2:00.12 which qualifies her for the 2015 Summer Junior Nationals. She made the summer junior nationals cut in the 400 IM as well with a 4:14.48. Her 200 back personal best of 1:57.28 also made it under the cut.
Moshos is also qualified to swim at Winter Nationals in multiple events. Her long-course 100 fly is a 1:02.99. She also made it in the short-course version of the event sporting a 54.85 personal best.
Showing off her versatility even more, Moshos made the 200 breaststroke winter nationals cut with her 2:17.66. That time stands as her personal best which she swam at the 2014 Winter nationals. Her 55.35 100-yard backstroke is the last event she’s qualified in.
Her versatility is clearly one of the many factors that makes Moshos such a desired recruit. This past season, the UNC Tar Heel women came second overall at the ACC Championships, falling just short of the University of Virginia.
Right out of the gates, Moshos will likely be a threat at the ACC Championships in both the 200 and 400 IM. She wouldn’t be too far off making a final in the 100 fly, 100 back, or 200 breaststroke either.
As for heading to the NCAA Championships, Moshos would have one ‘B’ qualifying standard (based on the 2014-2015 season standards) in the 400 IM and be close in several other events.
Moshos will be an important asset overall to the Tar Heels, and one of their top prospects as she grows throughout her four years at UNC. With potential to swim almost anything, it should be interesting to see where she’ll fit into the program.
Congrats reni UNC got a great recruit !
