VIDEO: Boxer Floyd Mayweather uses swimming to prepare for bout with Manny Pacquiao

Warning: the above video includes some not-safe-for-work language.

The buildup to the biggest boxing match of the 21st century took a crossover turn into swimming territory this week, as undefeated multi-time world champ Floyd Mayweather has started cross-training in the pool.

Mayweather will fight multi-time world champ Manny Pacquiao on May 2. The two are arguably the best-known boxers in the world at this point, and have danced their way around a head-to-head meeting for over five years.

But with the highly-anticipated match less than a month away, ESNews has produced a video discussing Mayweather’s new training strategy, which includes swimming as a full-body cross-training exercise. Specifically, ESNews talks to retired boxing pro Robert Garcia, who now coaches the sport.

You can check out the video above, but be warned that Garcia lets some four-letter words fly in his enthusiastic descriptions of Mayweather’s new training regimen.

For swimming fans who weren’t previously interested in the fight, this revelation might add some personal intrigue to the early-May superfight.

Back in the late 80’s, when Evander Holyfield made his first jump from cruiser weight to heavy weight for his fight in Reno, NV, he came to train with us when I was coaching the Reno Aquatic Club. Did some age group swimming and was a lifeguard before boxing. Swam pretty well, made some 50’s on 40 sec. Great guy and a gentleman to our team. Brian Retterer, do you remember?

I’d almost forgotten how stupid and uninteresting the sport of boxing is, and how boorish people who follow it are. Almost.

Floyd is just preparing his body so he can DESTROY Pacquiao. Floyd will use all of his SKILLS, SPEED, and ring intelligents in this fight. Floyd is already hard to hit. and everybody knows Pacquiao is a target, . Marquez ICED his DISCOUNT Bruce Lee looking ass with one punch. and he better hope Bob Arum leaves him with enough money to pay his taxes
