Ohio’s Lauren Dawson would claim the victory in the 200 backstroke (1:55.23). The sophomore Bobcat swam to a new pool and school record. This time is only .04 seconds of the last time that was invited to NCAAs last year, so Dawson is currently sitting right on the bubble. This swim currently ranks her 48th overall currently. Sophomore Szynal Ludwika (Akron) would finish in second with her 1:56.42, and fellow Zip Laura Savariau ended up in third (1:56.92).

Megan Burns (BUFF) touched first in a commanding 100 free win (49.04). The freshman was able to complete the sweep of the shorter sprint events since she finished first in the 50 earlier in the meet. Victoria Griffin (BGSU, 49.88) and Hannah Raspopovich (Akron, 50.26) rounded out the top three.

The next event would feature another strong freshman when Akron’s Paloma Marrero Munoz won the 200 breaststroke (2:13.34). Second place finisher Stephanie Lemire (Miami- OH) and third place finisher Monica Dorszewski both got off to a fast start, and Munoz actually found herself in third at the 100. The freshman from Akron didn’t panic, though, and swam her own race to surge ahead and claim the title. Lemire would end up finishing with a 2:13.80 and Dorszewski touched at 2:14.31.

The last individual swimming event would result in a pool recording being broken. Ohio’s Laura Dawson won the 200 fly in a time of 1:58.13 to beat the pool record of 1:58.35. That swim pushes Dawon up to 59th best in the nation. EMU’s Jessie Godlewski finished in second (1:59.12) and Akron’s Erin Seiler finished in third. Going into the final relay Akron had built up a 133 point lead over Bowling Green State University.

Diving concluded in finals when the 3-meter event was contested. Pei Lin (MU) took first with 309.60. Eastern Michigan University was then able to claim the next 4 positions with Melynee Saya (289.90), Lauren Dark (289.85), Rebecca Deacon (282.95), and Karly Taylor (278.70).

Going into the 400 medley relay the Akron Zips had already locked up their repeat MAC Championships crown. University at Buffalo would win the 400 free relay (3:20.86) and Miami University (Ohio) finished second in 3:22.46.
