Tickets for the 2015 Men’s NCAA Championship meet in Iowa City, Iowa have already sold out, according to the school’s website.
The meet will be held from March 26th-28th at the University of Iowa campus – a facility that seats 1,200 spectators.
Despite being a ways away from most of the contending teams geographically (as compared to last year’s meet, hosted by #2 Texas), this meet has sold out in a hurry. There are still standing room only tickets available, but they will be in a gymnasium, behind glass, outside of the actual natatorium facility.
Iowa will also host the Big Ten Championships next week.
Wonder how much they will go for on the street
My son qualified at his conference meet, so we had not pre-ordered tickets. Now can not find tickets anywhere. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
We have spent the last week contacting swim programs and ticket offices to no avail…
Try emailing: U of Iowa Tickets they may have general admission tickets available. There are 270 some swimmers and divers. You would think that each one of them would be allowed to have 2 tickets, After that tickets would be open for sale to the public. Many of these swimmers are from programs where they may be the only swimmer from their school. They worked just as hard to get there, perhaps harder. I am also among the parents having to be in another room, like a second class citizen. When I get there I am going to try to beg a parent to allow me to use their seat while my son swims his heat. So if any of… Read more »
Sad that the NCAA has hurt the parents in this, especially since swimming parents are so loyal. This is like the NCAA holding their Division 1 football championship at a high school stadium in North Dakota (no offense ND). Bad leadership…
Yes schools had shot at tickets before they went on sale! Some schools decided it wasn’t worth there effort to support there parents I guess!
Is there a way to set up elevated temporary seating on the diving well when its not in use, could bring in a floor and bleachers and sell them as “premium seats”
Hellaidea – I like the creativity, but my guess is that something in the fire code would torch that idea right off the bat.
yeah, who were the idiots who selected iowa city in the fist place?!?! Austin was sold out and they probably seat 3xs as many people. it’s a nightmare to get to iowa and very costly. who knows what the weather will be like.
that stinks for those of us with a kid who yet knows if they will qualify for the meet
jman – that is too bad, but the silver lining is that this implies that the fan base is beginning to grow beyond “parents of athletes,” which is a positive sign for the future of college swimming.
Now, we need to figure out how to bridge the gap from selling out 1,200 seats to selling out 2,500 seats in Indy or FW.
You’ll still be able to get tickets. They’re just going to cost you a little bit more.
I would think that schools would get an allotment of tickets for parents. At least you would hope the NCAA would think of that.
Only 1200 seats for NCAA? WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?
I actually like the smaller setting. Fun, packed, loud enviroment for swimmers. Meets in a place like Indy can be depressing if not full. I understand how it could suck for parents that miss out though.
