Finals Recap: Hawaii Sweeps Day One of MPSF Champs

The men and women Rainbow Warriors came up big on the first night of the MPSF Championship at East Los Angeles College, taking three event wins home as well as a sweep in the women’s one-meter diving event.

Hawaii kicked off the meet with a first-place finish in the Women’s 200 Medley Relay (1:40.24), just a few tenths ahead of UCSB’s A team (1:40.67). BYU’s A relay followed up close behind for third in 1:40.96. The Hawaii men also touched first in the 200 Medley relay (1:27.11), just three one-hundredths of a second ahead of UCSB’s A team (1:27.14). BYU took third in 1:28.26.

The Rainbow Warrior women also took home a first-place finish in the 800 Free relay (7:14.88) ahead of UC Davis’ A team (7:18.02). Pacific took third in 7:21.02. On the men’s side, the Gaucho A team touched first in 6:29.00, just ahead of Hawaii’s A team (6:29.63). The BYU men followed up for third in 6:35.96.

Hawaii – 80 points

UC Davis – 64 points

UCSB – 60 points

Pacific – 60 points

Cal Poly – 54 points

San Diego – 54 points

BYU – 32 points

Men’s Scores:

Hawaii – 74 points

UCSB – 74 points

BYU – 64 points
