Henry Chung
Henry Chung was born Aug. 1, 1992 in Hong Kong, China. Studying environmental sciences and policy, Chung began his collegiate career at Venture College and transferred to Northern California powerhouse, the University of California, Berkeley. Standing at 6’4″ Chung is a sprint freestyle and backstroke specialist, and he won the 50 freestyle in a 2014 dual meet against USC. Chung was named the California Community College Male Athlete of the Year after his 2012-2013 season, which is chosen amongst an estimated 25,000 athletes in the system. In addition to his success in athletics Chung is an impressive student. He was Ventura College’s top scholar athlete, graduating with a 3.88 cumulative GPA.

Prior to attending Cal Chung was the 2012-2013 California Community College Male Athlete of the Year after winning the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke at the State Championships.

UC Berkeley
2013-2014
At the 2014 Pac 12 Championships Chung was a non-scorer, but swam a sub-20 second 50 freestyle and a time in the 100 backstroke that would have placed him in the ‘B’ final. He also competed in the 100 freestyle.

2014-2015
Chung is in his senior year as a Cal Bear.

International Competition
Chung is the Hong Kong National Record Holder in the 50m backstroke and the 100m backstroke, and narrowly missed qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics.
