Katie Ledecky Will Attend USOC Meeting As Official Presenter for DC2024 Olympic Bid

As part of their official hour-long pitch to the United States Olympic Committee this week in Redwood, California, the organizers of the “Washington 2024” Olympic bid will be sending Katie Ledecky t0 speak on the bid’s behalf.

Each bidding city is allowed to send up to 5 official presenters, and according to a Tweet by the Washington Post’s Dave Sheinin, Ledecky will be one of those for her native D.C.

Also joining Ledecky will be the Mayor-elect Muriel E. Bowser; the former commissioner of the National Football League (NFL) Paul Tagliabue, and D.C. 2024 chairmen Ted Leonsis and Rus Ramsey to fill up the maximum of 5 allowed speaker’s at Tuesday’s USOC meeting.

The USOC is expected to officially vote this week on whether or not they intend to present any bid to the IOC to host the 2024 Olympics. An announcement of which U.S. city they will put forward could come as soon as this week, or could take several months, according to chairman Larry Probst.

Besides D.C., the other three American cities presenting a bid will be Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
