The Florida Gators have jumped to the top of the latest CSCAA NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving poll after a stellar performance at the Georgia Tech invite.
The latest poll, which heavily favors teams that have already swum their mid-season invites, saw the last poll’s #1 Cal slide all the way to 6th, despite not swimming a single meet since the last rankings were put out.
Two teams that benefited greatly from mid-season performances were:
- Missouri, who got great performances from breaststroker Sam Tierney and freestyler Michael Chadwick at their home invite, plus qualified their relays for NCAA’s early – a key to the Greg Rhodenbaugh/Frank Busch mid-season taper methodology; and
- Ohio State, despite not earning any NCAA automatic qualifiers, but showing quality depth and diving
Expect another big shakeup to this poll heading into winter training after Winter Nationals, the Texas Invite, the Georgia Invite, and the Hawkeye Invite lead another round of big meets in a week.

CSCAA NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Team Rankings Supported by TYR
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Team Rankings are compiled by nine CSCAA-member coaches and one media member. The rankings will be released on a weekly basis throughout the 2014-15 season, alternating weeks between a men’s and women’s team ranking.
The CSCAA DI Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the 25 best performing NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving teams in rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the country. Ranking are based on performances that have taken place since the previous poll and include invites as well as dual meets.

Phil, you need to thoroughly re evaluate yourself. I hate to break it to you but a team as a whole does not drop as much time as they did in two weeks without backing off a little bit. (and thereby RESTING) HENCE THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD!!!

This poll blows. I’d like to see a poll after the final mid-season rest meets. After the USA Nationals, Texas Invite, Georgia Invite.
I imagine you won’t have to wait too long. Like, maybe 2 weeks?
Not everyone rests
I know I made a point in the last poll how unlv shouldn’t be ranked given their dual meet performances, but anyone who knows anything about swimming knows the rebels stepped up at Missouri. They are easily a top 15 team with that performance
looks like nc state still can’t get past VT
NC state, Texas, and UNC seem to be the teams suffering in this poll, although none of them rested for a meet yet.
It is going to be another exciting ACC. Louisville, VT, UNC, and NC State will have a great battle for the title!
NC State needs a couple of divers – they’re better than VT in Swimming
