The Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs announced the commitment of Jack McLaughlin from Coastal Bend Aquatics (Corpus Christi, TX). McLaughlin, a 2013-14 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, has demonstrated domination as both a freestyler and butterflier, swimming some impressive times thus far in 2014:
50y freestyle – 21.16
100y freestyle – 46.28
200y freestyle – 1:39.58
100y butterfly – 50.60
200y butterfly – 1:54.30
To put a few of these performances in perspective, McLaughlin’s 50y freestyle time ranks as 19th, his 200y freestyle ranks 5th, and his 100y butterfly ranks 17th on the USA Swimming – Top 10 times for boys aged 17.
Within the high school competitive arena, McLaughlin placed in two individual events while representing Calallen High School at the 2014 Texas University Interscholastic League (TUIL) State Championships. His 1:41.91 time in the 200y freestyle earned him third, while McLaughlin’s 100y butterfly time of 50.64 claimed second place.
