The 18th edition of the Bolzano International is set to begin on November 8th in Bolzano, Italy. In the past the two day short course competition has included many of the most prominent names in international swimming and this year is no different.
The list of swimmers that Mattivi Christian, the events Chief, has brought to this year’s meet include Olympic gold medalists Americans Ryan Lochte and Natalie Coughlin, multiple Olympic medalist Amanda Weir, Germans Steffen and Markus Deibler, Akady Vyatchanin along with Italian stars Fabio Scozzoli, Marco Orsi, Erika Feraioli, Silvia Di Pietro and Elena Di Liddo.

The fact that Natalie Coughlin comes to Bolzano for the fourth time, is a further proof that our event has a good name around the world “, says OC-chief Mattivi Christian.

This year’s competition will involve 750 athletes from 15 different countries battling for 15,000.00 € in prize money.

The meet will also serve as a qualifier for the World Champions in Doha for many of the Italian competitors.

Saturday
- 100 freestyle
- 50 breaststroke
- 100 backstroke
- 50 butterfly
- 100 IM
- 4 x 50 medley relay
Sunday
- 100 butterfly
- 50 backstroke
- 100 breaststroke
- 50 freestyle
- 4 x 50 freestyle relay

The scoring and prize money for the meet are as follows:
Using the combined times in the following events the top swimmers will collect 150 pounds, 100 pounds for second, 70 pounds for third, 50 pounds for fourth and 40 pounds for fifth
- 50m + 100m FREE + 100m IM W+M
- 50m + 100m BACK + 100m IM W+M
- 50m + 100m BREAST + 100m IM W+M
- 50m + 100m FLY + 100m IM W+M
Team prize money will be based on a point scoring system of 9/7/6/5/4/3/2/1 for the first eight of every single age-group and double points for the relay races. The top team will receive Euro 600 / 400 / 300,00 / 200/ 100 (in case of equal scores the prize money are added together and then halved).
New meet records in individual events will received 250 Euros. The jackpot for meet records increases based on the number of years that a record has existed.
