65 Teams Earn NCAA Division I Women’s Invites (Official Psych Sheets)

The NCAA has released the official selection sheets for individual events at the 2016 NCAA Women’s Division I Championships.

Note: As of posting, relay listings were still not available.

Speaking to the greater level of parity in women’s NCAA swimming this year than we’ve seen in the last few years, no team had more than 13 individual swimmers invited this year (Texas A&M, USC, and Tennessee), whereas last year Georgia had 18, A&M had 16, and Cal had 16.

Teams with double digit invites:

  • Texas A&M – 13
  • Tennessee – 13
  • USC – 13
  • Cal – 12
  • Georgia – 12
  • Virginia – 12
  • Auburn – 11
  • NC State – 10
  • Texas – 10

Notably, the Stanford women, who are seeded to score the second-most points of any team at NCAAs, only have 9 swimmers invited – far fewer than the other top contenders.

In total, 65 teams earned individual invites to NCAAs, which is up from 63 last year – a small reversal of a trend that saw a huge drop in the number of teams invited last season.

The swimmers would have had to have been entered in the events they have B cuts in. If they were not entered prior to selections, they would not be in an event, even if they had B cuts.

The B cut entries (optional entry events) would be listed on the psych sheet, but not on the invited athletes by team list.

Seven total events, no more than three may be individual.

Total entrants can / will change based off of scratches; however, B Cuts should already be listed.

I dont think all the B Cuts are listed. There are a few I know of from Michigan that are invited and got B Cuts in other events and aren’t on the list and thanks foor the info on number of events

If someone is on the invited list for let’s say the 100 free, can they swim other events as long as they have the “B” cut?

So does that mean the number of entrants in an event might change. For example, someone is in the 100 FLY, 200 FLY and got a “B: cut in say the 100 BACK but wasn’t invited in that event they can still swim it. Also, any swimmer can go 3 INDIVIDUAL, and is there a limit as to how many RELAYS they can be entered. Just making sure I got this right

Who would have thought that at the start of the season that NC state would had 10 swimmers invited. Just like the mens team in few year they will become the most dominante program in the NCAA.
