Will Schrensky of Northwest Aquatic Club Swimming will be a Boilermaker next fall. He is a Winter Nationals qualifier in the 100 breast and Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200.
I chose Purdue because the men’s team wasn’t just a close knit group, they already felt like my family. The academics also are very strong at Purdue and they ensure that their swimmers are competitive in the pool and the classroom. Also the coaches there are some of the most respectable men I have ever met. I am excited to have the chance to swim at the Big Ten level and swim against so many strong teams across the nation.
Schrensky’s Top Times (SCY/LCM)
- 100 breast – 55.94/1:05.92
- 200 breast – 2:04.39/2:23.19
At last year’s Indiana HS State Champs, Schrensky tied for 3rd in the 100 breast and swam breaststroke on Carroll High School’s 7th place 200 medley relay.
Schrensky would’ve been right outside Purdue’s top 5 last season in both breaststroke events, though they lost their best guy in Lyam Dias to graduation. The Boilers will be led by sophomore Marat Amaltdinov this season, and they have a bunch of underclassmen breaststrokers looking to rise in the ranks as well.
It took a 54.7 and a 2:00 low to crack the C final at Big Tens last year, but Schrensky has been making steady improvements since his freshman year and will look to contribute in his debut season for the Boilers next fall.
Joining Schrensky in Purdue’s incoming freshman class is Nevada distance freestyler Nick McDowell.

Purdue also has a commitment from Jake Heidecker of NSC and Castle Highschool. Congrats to Will!
