547 Swimming and Diving Teams Named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) have released their list of 547 “Scholar All-America” teams for the fall semester. That number is up 40 teams from last year’s fall semester.

Over 70% of all Division I teams made the list, which requires teams to achieve GPAs of 3.00 or higher. The women of Boise State University led the way among DI programs with a collective 3.64.

“The entire environment around the Boise State University athletic program has been about pushing every metric of student athlete performance,” said Broncos head coach Jeremy Kipp. “From the beginning of the year, our captains– Karli Kriewall, Blake Balough, and Sam Wicks— committed the team to a 3.5 GPA.”

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America.  The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.

“We really are fortunate to work with the best of the best,” said Joel Shinofield, CSCAA’s executive director. “In reality, some would argue that swimmers and divers have some of the most demanding practice schedules, but we find that in most cases their athletic drive and academic goals simply reinforce one another.”

Thanks Braden. Please find below the link to the CSCAA website that provides the list of Team Scholar All American Swimming & Diving Teams. You’ll notice that Seton Hall is listed here but somehow didn’t make your list above. Hope this helps.

I think you missed Seton Hall University in the Division 1 category. For Fall 2015 the women’s team had a GPA of 3.471 and the men’s team had a GPA of 3.159, (see the Seton Hall Athletic website). CSCAA data also shows that 100% of the Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving Teams in the Big East Conference achieved CSCAA Team Scholar All American.

Hello Ron, thanks for your note. We’ll ask the CSCAA if they’ve updated the list – these lists were posted exactly as released by the CSCAA, and it would be up to them to make amendments, as it’s there award. We’ll update if they do! Appreciate you pointing this out so we can follow up!
