The Minnesota women will add a new sprinter to their ranks next fall following Britt Horn‘s verbal commitment to join the Golden Gophers. Horn is a native of Wisconsin, where she attends Appleton North High School and competes for the Fox Valley Wave Swim Team.
Last season, Horn was a 2-time championship finalist at the 2016 Wisconsin Girls Division 1 State Championships. There, she picked up a bronze medal with her 3rd place finish in the 100 free, and also cracked the top 5 with her 4th place in the 100 back.
Horn’s times in the sprint freestyles will make her a candidate for the free relays, and she’s also already good enough to score individually at the conference meet. Her personal best 50.12 in the 100 free would’ve landed her in the C-final at the 2016 Big Ten Championships. In the 100 back (55.45), she’s less than 2 tenths shy of what it took to score.
Horn’s Top Times:
Event | Best time |
50 free | 23.87 |
100 free | 50.12 |
200 free | 1:50.15 |
100 back | 55.45 |
At Minnesota, Horn will team up with a group that includes Zoe Avestruz and Danielle Nack. At last season’s Big Ten Championships, Avestruz was a scorer in the 50 free and 100 back, while Nack scored in the 50 free, 100 fly, and 200 fly.
The Horn family deserves to be on “Cloud 9”. Lots of hard work has paid off for Britt.
