3 Year Old Swims 100 meters at Swimming Hall of Fame – Video

This video was provided by the CEO of the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) , Bruce Wigo.

Henry White, only 3 years old, swam 100 meters at the International Swimming Hall of Fame.  Henry, son of Eric and Sylvia White of Chicago, Illinois is African American, however, race should “not” define this young swimmer. Completing 100 meters is great for any three year old of any color.

Olympic champion, Cullen Jones, will be proud when he see this video. The swimming community has been striving for more diversity in the sport for many years. Cullen Jones, 4-time Olympic medalist, is the first African American to win Olympic gold in swimming (2008 Beijing, 4×100 free relay). Jones has been the ambassador of this movement via the USA Swimming Foundation and their Make a Splash initiative.

ISHOF has been a long-time supporter of the health and wellness benefits of the sport, but that begins with learning to swim. ISHOF’s Water-safety campaign is ongoing.

Congrats to Henry White on completing 100 meters! Hopefully the swimming passion will continue and we’ll see Henry competing one day.

What a wonderful video and message. With a kick like that, I think Henry should be eyeing 2024…

I used to teach swim lessons and I will always remember a little 3 yr old girl who swam like this. Her mother loved to bring her to the pool for family swim, but she had health problems and was prone to seizures. So she made sure her little girl could swim in case anything happened to her while in the water. This little girl held her own in a class of 8-year olds…swimming laps like a champ! Always made my day…..
