Michael Jasinski, a senior who swims for Glendale High School and the Springfield Aquatics Club, has announced his commitment to in-state DII Drury University for the 2022-23 school year.
Jasinski recently won the 2021 Missouri State Class 1 championship title in the 200-yard freestyle, in which he swam a personal best time of 1:39.49. He also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at the same meet, where he set a best time of 45.87. He was the Missouri State Class 1 champion in the 100 free in 2020. Missouri High School swimming is sorted into two classes of schools, Class 1 (smaller schools) and Class 2 (larger schools).
His times in the 50, 100, and 200 free qualify him for the 2022 Speedo Futures Championships.
His lifetime bests in yards include:
- 50 Free: 21.21
- 100 Free: 45.87
- 200 Free: 1:39.49
- 500 Free: 4:41.64
Jasinski will join Will Frazier and Josue Hernandez Tellez as members of the Drury class of 2026.
His 200 free time would have ranked him third amongst Drury swimmers in the event this season and would have placed him 12th at the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships. Although he is easily in scoring position at conference championships in the 200, he needs to drop a few tenths in the 100 and 50 in order to be a multi-event threat.
Drury, who finished as the runners-up at the 2021 DII National Championships, look to fill the hole created by their star swimmer Karol Ostrowski, who announced that he would be transferring to a DI swim program following the 2021-22 season.
