I predicted a few weeks ago that “Team Mac” made up of all swimmers who have a sound similar to “Mc” or “Mac” in their name would top the medal table if they formed a country. The members are:
Emma McKeon
Summer McIntosh
MOC
Maggie MacNeil
Kaylee McKeown
Maxine Parker
Tatjana Shoenmaker
Cam McEvoy
Henry McFadden
Mykhailo Romanchuk
And Mack Horton, Macguire McDuff and SMOC are there in spirit haha.
According to SwimSwam picks (I’ve guessed the last two that are missing), the predicted outcome for this team gives them:
Gold – 11
Silver – 6
Bronze – 5
Which puts them in equal first for golds with USA,… Read more »
5 hours to go and still three articles left. Cutting it fine haha
Bold predictions!
Kate Douglass will win the W 200 IM if Kate Douglass does not swim in the final of the W 4 x 100 FR-R.
USA will not win gold in the W 4 x 100 FR-R. Furthermore, Kate Douglass will not have time to fully recover from the semifinals of the W 200 IM to swim the final of the W 4 x 100 FR-R with only the final of the M 400 IM in between the two aforementioned events. Replace a worn Kate Douglass with a fresh Olivia Smoliga and live to fight another day.
Is Swimswam going to make it to the finish line? There are still a boatload of event previews to post and less than 24 hours to post them.
This happens every time. 18 hours to go and missing 6 isn’t that bad actually haha
Assuming the last picks go as expected:
Aus 100 free
Can 400 free
USA 1500 free
USA 100 breast
Romania 200 free
USA 800 free
USA 100 breast
USA Medley relay
That gives us predicted gold counts of:
USA 12
Aus 10
CAN 5
ITA/GB 3
ROU 2
GER/JPN/LTU 1
McEvoy could be the X Factor.
He wins the 50 free
USA 12
AUS 11
Then swims a 47 low split and gets King Kyle close enough to blast away in the 4 x 100m free
AUS 12
USA 11
I’m not sure about the 4×100 and even if US doesn’t win there’s still gonna be Great Britain who can put a fast split and I wouldn’t underestimate Popovici in 100 free cause I thinks he looks really good too.
I don’t see this happening but it would be nice!
Yeah like they also forgot to change the result of 200IM when Summer dropped it.
My favorite dark horse pick is Wiffen for the 400 Free. He said it was a fun event for him but he has been 3:44. Being relaxed for the race could bode well and he could push the likes of Winngton, Märtens, and Short.
That didn’t age well lol
Best opportunities for gold medals.
