2021 NCAA Qualifier Alyssa Graves Transferring to Ohio State After Year at Iowa

Alyssa Graves from Hartland, Wisconsin has announced her intention to transfer to The Ohio State University for 2021-22.

“The University of Iowa’s decision to initially cut the women’s swim program was a decision that should not have been made. My time at Iowa was short but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love Iowa but it is time to move on.
“After an amazing season at the University of Iowa and much consideration, I have decided to verbally commit to continue my academic and athletic career at The Ohio State University. I would like to thank everyone, especially my coaches at Iowa, for making this possible. Go Bucks”

Graves graduated from Arrowhead High School in 2020 and spent her first year of college swimming for the University of Iowa. She scored in three events at 2021 B1G Championships, placing 6th in the 200 fly (1:57.99), 11th in the 1650 free (16:21.34), and 14th in the 500 free (4:48.19). She qualified for NCAAs in the mile and the 200 fly. She earned new PBs in both events, coming in 27th (16:18.59) and 33rd (1:57.81) in prelims.

Graves swims for the club team Schroeder YMCA. She competed with SSTY in a few meets last fall, before NCAA season, and this spring, scoring PBs in the SCY 50 free and 100 fly and the LCM 400/800 free and 200 fly.
