For most of us, because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the view of day 1 of the 2020 ISL season was only available through the view of television.
But swimming photographers Mike Lewis and Mine Kasapoglu bring
the world a different view of the opener that saw the Cali Condors sprint out to a big early lead over the defending champions Energy Standard.
Racing for day 2 will begin on Saturday, but for now, enjoy the images of the first day of the ISL.

Many Americans made their professional debuts for the LA Current, especially, on Friday. That includes Abbey Weitzeil (photo: Mike Lewis)/ISL

Does anyone know why they have to wear a mask if they are in the ISL bubble?
(not politically charged or anything just curious)
Because the bubble is not a true ‘bubble’ like in the NBA. That’s why we’ve tried to generally avoid using that terminology, though the league prefers it.
The athletes are allowed out on Margaret Island, a public island. Not sure if the public is still allowed there, but if they are, that’s one risk.
Beyond that, athletes are allowed to leave the bubble for 90 minutes at a time, go into town, and Hungary is setting new records for cases and deaths every week. Per capita, there are more deaths in Hungary right now from COVID than there are in the US, on average, though still fewer cases.
I’m still laughing at the “Chad Le Le” typo from yesterday.
Love your headline: CALI CONDORS CRACK OPEN A BIG LEAD.
“Crack” has been in the news a lot this week! Glad to see SwimSwam is on board too!
