Day 2 of the 2019 US National Championships at the Avery Aquatics Center at Stanford University saw some extraordinary races and unexpected times. We saw Luca Urlando going a 1:46 in the 200 free from the B final, putting him in contention to make the Olympic Team in that event. We also saw Reece Whitley have a breakout swim in the 200 breast, winning the National Title and dipping under the 2:10 mark for the first time. Did you miss these swims? Luckily, SwimSwam’s Jack Spitser was on deck to capture the intensity, drama and action of the second day of racing.

That Whitley picture with all the water on one side is one of the coolest swim photos I’ve seen in a LONG time. Keep taking great photos, these are always really fun to look at.
Wow–these photographs are electric. I am impressed by how they seem to capture the tension, excitement, and varied emotions at the meet. These images offer a glimpse of the atmosphere at U.S. Nationals for those of us following the results from afar. The bold colour scheme also creates a vibrant and striking aesthetic. Thanks for sharing your work, Jack, and congratulations on this fantastic collection of vivid and expressive photographs.
Thank you very much! That means a lot! Best part about capturing these meets is the emotion and energy the swimmers give off 🤙🏽
Jack – these are fantastic!
Yeah, you’re really a treasure. These are great. That Reese shot is epic. He should make it a poster for his dorm room.
You are an incredibly talented photographer !!
