Denison posted the top time out of heats with sophomore Madison Hopkins (23.22) and juniors Casey Kirby (23.32), Gabriella Nutter (23.02) and KT Kustritz (22.72) combining for 1:32.28. The Big Red were exactly .60 faster than Kenyon’s Andrea Perttula (23.83), Caylee Hamilton (23.32), Abigail Wilson (22.86), and Emmerson Mirus (22.87).

Emory (1:33.40) used Fiona Mur (23.48), Zoe Walker (23.12), Hannah Lally (23.40), and Megan Taylor (23.40) and came in third out of heats.

Connecticut College senior Maeve Wilber dropped 5.72 seconds to win heat 1 with 4:38.06. She was followed a heat later by MIT sophomore Hannah Mahaffey who went 4:30.35 (-.33) over freshman teammate Laura Rosado (4:34.14).

Honore Collins, who won the 200 IM on Wednesday night with a new NCAA Division III Record, opened the circle-seeded heats with a 4:24.92. Union junior Kerry Kelly went 4:27.02 to touch second, just ahead of Williams junior Ellie Sherman (4:27.09). Johns Hopkins freshman Sydney Okubo was DQd in that heat.

Emory senior Julia Durmer put up a 4:21.35 to win heat 4, coming to the wall ahead of Denison junior Natalie Zaravella (4:23.86) and Chicago junior Simone Stover in lane 1 (4:28.54 (-.11).

The final heat featured a protracted battle between William sophomore and defending champion Molly Craig and Emory freshman Clio Hancock, who came in with the top seed time. Craig got her hand to the wall first, 4:20.97 to 4:21.11. Erica Hsu of Denison (3rd in 2018) touched third in 4:26.06.

There were a large number of time improvements in the heats of 100 butterfly, and the first came in heat 1 from SUNY Geneseo sophomore Lauren Siegel who notched a 57.42 (-2.68) for the win. Emory sophomore Bethany Seagraves followed in the next heat with 55.98 (-1.19) to eke out a win over Geneseo sophomore Deidra Osula (56.33, -.62).

Denison junior Zoe Whelan crushed heat 3, improving her seed time by .92 to go 55.37. Teammate Angela Le (56.11, -.06), 4th in 2018, edged NYU sophomore Erica Yuen (56.14, -.25) for second. Yuen placed 16th last year.

Denison sophomore Madison Hopkins, who was part of the record-breaking 200 medley relay on Wednesday night and who placed 8th in this event a year ago, went 54.51, taking .12 off her entry time, to win the first circle-seeded heat. Behind her were Bowdoin sophomore Mary Laurita (54.95, -.20), RIT senior Sedera Zbranak (55.85, -.28), and Denison junior Katherine Mesaros (56.04).

Washington & Lee junior Ali MacQueen, who finished 12th last year, won heat 5 in 54.48. Clara Baker (13th in 2018) was .40 behind, while Kenyon sophomore Caylee Hamilton took 3rd in 56.03 (-.12).

Williams senior Maia Hare went 54.75 in the final heat, beating Bates sophomore Caroline Apathy, the top seed in this event (55.07) and NYU freshman Terra Matsushima (55.31) to the wall.

Haley Brown of Berry College kicked of heats of 200 freestyle with a 2.9-second drop for 1:52.27 over Williams’ Alison McNamara (1:53.09). Michelle Wang of Johns Hopkins went 1.06 faster than her entry time to win heat 2 in 1:52.66. Heat 3 went to Calvin senior Anna Serino in 1:51.61 (-.57) over Chicago senior Hannah Eastman (1:51.80, -.36). Lane 5 was empty as NYU freshman Rachel Reistroffer was a DFS.

Rebecca Erwin of Birmingham Southern (4th in 2018) clocked a 1:49.63 to open the circle-seeds. Kenyon junior Kendall Vanderhoof (5th last year) touched second in 1:49.94 (-.22). Williams sophomore Casey Delano came in 3rd with 1:51.11.

Williams sophomore Laura Westphal, the 500 free champ on Wednesday night, won the penultimate heat in 1:58.81, touching just ahead of Kenyon senior Hannah Orbach-Mandel (1:49.05, -.86) and her teammate Delaney Ambrosen (1:51.10, -.53).

2018 runner-up Fiona Muir of Emory posted the morning’s top time in the final heat, going 1:48.53 to touch out Bowdoin senior Sterling Dixon (1:48.69, -1.59). Kenyon senior Abigail Wilson (8th last year) touched third in 1:49.96 ahead of Amherst junior Natalie Rumpelt (1:50.86).
