2019 Futures Qualifier Alexia Green Verbally Commits to North Texas for 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Alexia Green of Humble, TX has announced her decision to remain in-state with a verbal commitment to the University of North Texas beginning in the 2021-2022 season. Green is a senior at Atascocita High School and she is a year-round swimmer at Blue Tide Aquatics.

I choose UNT for their amazing academics as well as the great coaching staff and team.

At the end of January, the Atascocita High School senior competed at the UIL 6A Region 6 Championships. She swam the 100 fly and the 200 free, making it back in the top 8 in each event. Her 200 free prelims time of 1:54.57 earned her 8th place, while her 57.82 100 fly time placed her 4th. She went on to drop time in each event in finals and she remained 8th and 4th. She dropped 0.69 seconds in the 100 fly and 0.82 seconds in the 200 free.

In addition to her individual races, Green was a member of Atascocita’s 200 and 400 free relays. She swam the third leg of the 400 free relay, splitting a time of 53.41. Maddy Grafmiller, Bella Caldwell, and Tristen Fant also swam on the relay which earned the silver medal. Green also swam the third leg on the 200 free relay, going a 50 free time of 24.99. She was joined by Fant, Grafmiler, and Adisyn Belaire for a 4th place finish.

Two weeks later, Green competed at the Texas 6A State Championships in the 100 fly and the 400 free relay. She touched 16th in prelims, earning a spot in the B-final of the event. She dropped 0.31 seconds in finals, moving up to 12th and going a new personal best time of 56.70. Grafmiller, Caldwell, Green, and Fant swam the 400 free relay at the state meet, finishing 13th.

Green’s 100 fly time was a 2019 Futures qualifying time. She also has a 2019 Futures cut in the 200-meter butterfly which she earned at the 2019 NCSA Summer Champs.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 fly – 56.70
  • 200 fly – 2:03.27
  • 50 free – 24.98
  • 200 free – 1:51.94
  • 100 back – 58.83

Green will join the University of North Texas’s women’s team in the fall of 2021. During the 2019-2020 season she would have been their second-fastest 200 flyer behind Alvena Walpole and their 3rd fastest in the 200 behind Kaity Carr and Robyn Lee. Additionally, she would have been seeded in the B-final of both events as well as the 200 free at the 2020 Conference USA Championships.

Green will be a member of North Texas’s class of 2025.
