2018 W. NCAAs: 5-Seed Jing Quah DQed in 200 Fly Prelims

2018 WOMEN’S NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Coming into the NCAA Championships, Texas A&M freshman Jing Quah was the 5th seed for the 200 fly. Quah, who boasted a 1:53.05 from the 2018 SEC Championships, was disqualified in prelims of the 200 fly in Columbus due to a 15-meter violation. Despite the DQ, Quah wouldn’t have made the final, as her prelims splits add up to a 1:55.67. It took a 1:53.31 to make the A final and a 1:55.38 to make the B final.

The Aggies don’t have any swimmers in the 200 fly final tonight, but fellow freshman Taylor Pike will represent A&M in the B final. She was 15th this morning in 1:55.24, coming within 3 tenths of her lifetime best. Stanford’s Ella Eastin, the reigning NCAA champion, led the way through prelims this morning. She was the only swimmer to crack 1:52 this morning, posting a 1:51.76, and will go after her own American Record tonight.

Shame to DQ at the biggest meet of your life. She’s a really talented freshman and will be back next year!
