2017 Luxembourg Open Nationals

The 13th edition of the Luxembourg Open Nationals is set to kick-off tomorrow, July 1st at the Campus Geesseknaeppchen. Organizers are expecting upwards of 230 athletes from 26 different clubs representing 10 different nations among the competition’s field. Luxembourg itself will see 11 clubs competing, but athletes from Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Iceland, Italy and others will also be vying for medals in one of the final international competitions before this summer’s World Championships.

Luxembourg athletes Laurent Carnol, Raphaël Stacchiotti, Julie Meynen, Pit Brandenburg and Monique Olivier will be racing this weekend before heading to a pre-World Championships training camp in Tenerife.

Israeli Olympian Gal Nevo and Icelandic Olympic finalist Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir are also among the entrants, as are Egyptian swimmers Mohamed Samy and Youssef El Kamash.

Junior swimmers will be competing as a last opportunity to qualify for the European Olympic Youth Festival slated for July 24th-28th in Hungary.

Day 1 will see the men’s and women’s 50 back, 50 fly, 200 back, 100 breast and 100 free contested.
