Ripitide’s Regan Smith, whose previous best time was 2:21.95, dropped a 2:18.37 in prelims to rocket to #30 all-time for 13-14 girls and qualify third for finals. Zoe Bartel, only 4/10 off her best time, led the field with 2:17.22. Fort Collins Area Swim Team’s Bartel won the 100/200 breaststrokes earlier in the week. Greater Nebraska Swim Team’s Dannie Dilsaver was second through to finals with her best-by-a-tick 2:17.45.
Coleen Gillilan of Fort Collins Area Swim Team and Camryn Toney of Texas Ford Aquatics improved by a respective 1.8 and 1.5 seconds to ascend to the B final.

Michael Andrew of Race Pace Club qualified first in the men’s 200 IM by 2.3 seconds with 2:02.57. Andrew has won every event he has entered this week, including the 100 free, 100 back, 100/200 breast, and 100 fly. He is also the top qualifier in tonight’s 50 free final.
Kieran Smith of Ridgefield Aquatic Club improved his entry time by 1.13 seconds to make it through second for tonight’s final in the 200 IM. His 2:04.83 puts him at #20 on the all-time list for 15-16 boys in the event. Dayton Raiders’ Tommy Cope qualified third with 2:04.89, just a half-second off his best. Brennan Pastorek of Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team, perhaps the best placed to give Andrew a chase for the title given that he’s already been 2:02.4 this year, qualified fourth in 2:05.27.
Mason Manta Rays 14-year-old Carson Foster went 2:06.85,a PB by 1.2 seconds, to earn a spot with his older broker, Jake Foster, in the B final. Carson inched up from 7th to 3rd on the all-time top 100 list for 13-14 boys; he is now one of only three boys under the age of 15 ever to have broken 2:07 in the 200 IM. The other two are Michael Phelps (2:04.13) and Michael Andrew (2:06.50).

Top-seeded Anya Goeders, a 15-year-old from Mako Swim Team, posted the morning’s fastest 50 free time with 25.30. Greater Tampa’s Morgan Tankersley qualified second with 26.11, just 1/100 ahead of Mike Dahlke from North Bay Aquatics and Kenisha Liu of Brea Aquatics.
Kylee Alons of Fort Collins Area Swim Team dropped a whopping .34 to move from 32nd on the psych sheet to top 8. Melissa Pish of Waves Bloomington dropped an even more-impressive .68 to land in the B-final, tied for 11th; Pish had been seeded 54th out of 59 entrants.

Michael Andrew closed out the prelims with the top time of the morning in the 50 free, 22.56. Drew Kibler of Carmel Swim Club and Alberto Mestre of Tiger Shark Swimming each dropped .02 to qualify second and third, respectively, with 22.93 and 23.29.
There were several big swims to make the A final this morning, including from: John Whiteside of Westport/Weston Family Y (-.55), Colin Riley of Marietta Marlins (-.45), Devon Nowicki of AquaSwimClub (-.36), and David Madej of Swim Strongsville (-.25).
Likewise, Derek Sander of Madison Swimming Association (-.31), Henry Keel of Memphis Thunder (-.22), Andrew Couchon of Carmel Swim Club (-.11), and Cody Bybee from Dayton Raiders (-.03) all improved on their seed times to earn a spot in the B final. Enfinity Aquatic Club’s Levente Bathory and King Aquatic Club’s Kevin Dang tied for 16th, but Brennan Pastorek scratched out of the 50 free final to concentrate on the 200 IM so both Dang and Bathory will contest the B final.

The slower heats of women’s 1500 freestyle produced some big swims, as Mckenzee Gordon of Scottsdale Aquatic Club dropped 13.8 seconds to notch the fastest time heading into finals, 16:48.11. Behind her was 13-year-old Eliot Kennedy of Waves Bloomington, who improved 10.5 seconds and posted a 16:48.59. Emma Nordin of Carmel Swim Club’s 16:50.93 was the third-fastest time in the afternoon session; Nordin’s previous best time was 17:39.

Brendan Driscoll of Tampa Bay Aquatics set the pace for the last heat of 800s, swimming with finals tonight. He dropped 16 seconds to post the time to beat, 8:16.20. Eric Knowles of Dayton Raiders notched an impressive 8:18.20 for his first-ever 800 free. Sandpipers of Nevada’s Brennan Gravley had the third-fastest 800 of the afternoon session with a personal-best 8:23.40.
