Women’s Ups/Downs
It had always been projected that the battle for first place would be between Kenyon and Emory, that Williams and Denison would fight for third and fourth, and that there would be a huge drop to the next tier where MIT, Amherst, Wash U, and Wisconsin-Eau Claire, among others, would be vying for position. The first morning gave us a few interesting twists on this story as Kenyon and Williams picked up important points that could change these key races. Kenyon, in particular, narrowed the projected gap with Emory from 75 to 57.5 points, thanks to outscoring the projections by 3, 18, and 24 points in the 500 free, 200 IM, and 50 free, respectively. Williams outperformed in the 500 free, 200 IM and medley relay.

Men’s Ups/Downs
Day 1 prelims gave us a glimpse of what is to come, with Kenyon and Denison trading hits and misses. Denison didn’t do as well as expected in the freestyle events but had a better-than-expected 200 IM and stacked the A final in 3-meter diving. Kenyon improved on its seedings in the 500 free and 200 IM but slipped a little in the relay – which may or may not mean anything until finals. Still the projected margin between the two teams has narrowed considerably, and in Kenyon’s favor.
Other strong morning performances came from Claremont-McKenna-Scripps, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Williams, and DePauw.

My guess is you don’t know Jack.
In the men’s 500 watch out for Conover–looks like he shut it down in prelims– he might have more left to give than Baker Greenhalgh.
In the men’s 2 IM– I am guessing Holder takes Lindell in finals for a new record. Holder shut it down the 2nd hundred, and his breastroke/free are better than Lindell’s. Watch Manz to move up to 3rd– he shut it down in prelims too.
My predictions exactly. I see Lindell AND Holder breaking this morning’s barrier, but also see Holder taking the win. But I could be wrong.
