BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Following one game of competition, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2016 Men’s Varsity Week 13/November 30 Top 20 Poll.
In the wake of Harvard University’s 13-12 victory in sudden death overtime at home in Blodgett Pool on Saturday, November 26, in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship play-in game, the National Top 20 Poll remains consistent in the sequence of programs from the Week 12/November 23 rankings.
The Top Five positions in the poll remain unchanged as the University of Southern California (100 points) remains the consensus No. 1 team in the nation, with the University of California-Los Angeles (95 points), the University of California (90 points), University of the Pacific (83 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (75 points) holding firm at No. 2-to-5, respectively.
Pepperdine University (73 points), which rated at No. 7 seven days ago, moves into a tie with Stanford University (73 points) at No. 6, while Long Beach State University (65 points) remains a lock at No 8.
Following its sudden death NCAA play-in game win, Harvard (60 points) moves into a tie with the University of California-Davis (60 points) at No. 9 to complete the Top 10.
Bucknell (51 points) improves one place to take over at No. 11 and drop Brown University (46 points) back to No. 12. The remainder of the Top 20 remains unchanged from the Week 12 voting as Princeton University (39 points), the University of California-San Diego (36 points), George Washington University (28 points), California Baptist University (25 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (18 points), Loyola Marymount University (17 points), the University of California-Irvine (8 points) and St. Francis College Brooklyn (6 points) remain at No. 13-to-20, respectively.
Santa Clara University (5 points), the United States Air Force Academy (1 point) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (1 point) also received votes.
