2015 FINA World Jr Champs Preview – Daniel Krueger (Video Interview)

At the tail end of a summer filled with big international meets, the World Junior Championships are just around the corner. The championships will be in Singapore and take place from Aug 25th to the 30th. The team is currently scheduled to reassemble on August 20th to travel to Singapore for the Championships.

Daniel Krueger isn’t the household name that we expect to see on the Jr national team. Yet. But he is well on his way to achieving that status. Going to Jr nationals with no expectations besides putting up solid times, Dan ended up making his national cut in the 100. He decided to stay in San Antonio an extra week and see what he could do at nationals. This decision payed off big time when Daniel got 2nd in the C-heat (18 & under) going from 52.0 to 50.1 in a matter of 5 days over 2 meets and securing his place on the World Jr Champs team.

At age 16, time drops like this are certainly not uncommon. However, to be on the cusp of breaking 50 in the 100 freestyle at age 16 is a completely different story. Daniel Krueger is one of the most exciting stories to watch for at World Jr Champs, because he is just getting started and the potential for improvement is seemingly endless at this point for this young speedster.

Daniel Krueger is just getting started, and this being his first international meet with the National Jr team, be on the watch for a big time performance.

I have a feeling that the landscape of USA sprinting is going to change dramatically in the next 12 months! So much huge talent starting to come through at the right time; I’m also sure a few names we haven’t heard of will be making waves.

Very fast/talented kid. I recall him going 20.2 as a freshman in high school. Has been just a hair behind Andrew in the sprints for the past couple of years. I think he’ll break out at this meet.

Yes. Not the American junior who made the biggest number of headlines in the past few years but definitely a great steady progression. Maybe he will even break 50 before Michael Andrew.
