At the tail end of a summer filled with big international meets, the World Junior Championships are just around the corner. The championships will be in Singapore and take place from Aug 25th to the 30th. The team is currently scheduled to reassemble on August 20th to travel to Singapore for the Championships.
Cassidy Bayer, much like her male counter parts on the Jr National team, is a valuable asset in the up and coming crop of fresh talent in US swimming. Having role models like Katie Mclaughlin, who at age 18 placed 6th at the 2015 World Championships, Cassidy, at only 15, has a very bright future in the stroke of her predecessor.
She will be swimming both butterfly’s at World Jr Champs. With seed times of 2:08.0 and 59.0, she will not only be a force, but she’s going to be hungry for more as well. At US Nationals, her goal was to be sub-59 and sub-2:08, both of which she was right on the cusp of.
Look to Bayer to make a statement in the coming week.
There once was another young woman (about Cassidy’s age) who wanted to break 59 in the 100 fly. She eventually did… Mary T swam 57.9. Dream big, and be aggressive. You won’t die at the end of this race in Singapore.
And then… keep training long course next year. Phelps is much better at long course, and it’s NOT because he has bad turns. He can hold or increase his speed over 20 strokes. Forget about high school where you only swim 5-10 strokes at a time.
Any idea when the psych sheet will be out?
SwimmerGal – our guess would be middle of next week, based on normal timing, but nothing official on when yet.
There out!

it’s under entry book.
While Bayer is certainly a star in the making, I just don’t think she will have enough to get in ahead of Katie McLaughlin by next summer. I think top 3 for sure
I think it’ll take 2:06 low also, Adams is very consistent and has done 2:06 a few times now and could probably do 2:05 sometime soon… McLaughlin is capable of 2:06 also and Bayer could drop time before then..
I watch Cassidy Bayer develop since 2011 and I have the feeling she could surprise one of the 2 favorites (Adams and McLaughlin) next year at olympic trials and go to Rio. It will be tough, probably 2.06 low to qualify, but it doesn’t look out of reach.
Good luck in Singapore and bring home 3 gold medals.
NB: she still holds the title of the best swimswam photo.
Pic from 2013 world trials when she swam for the first time under the minute in the 100 fly. Nobody has beaten that photo since then.
Priceless. 🙂
Unless Chen, Zhang and Hasegawa goes to Jr Worlds, she is probably the heavy favorite for gold on both races.. Even with all 3 girls she will still be almost a podium lock on both races..
And important, the meet begins in less than 5 days and FINA did not release the Start lists!!!!
Really could not understand why so many downvotes for Bobo post..
Haha, Rafael, I don’t care. Forget that.
These are probably the same who have reelected G. W. Bush in 2004.
I’m honored to be their main target.
Ransom of glory! 😆
Why do you always bring up U.S. Presidential elections when you get a lot of downvotes?
Well it was a pretty bad choice…
Voter turnout in 2004 was the highest since the civil rights / Kennedy charged elections of the 1960s . It was a clear victory granted by the same people who raised the kids you so love in the pool .
lol thanks gina
these ppl just gave birth to these kids, where the influence of michael phelps it was which made them to the (amazing) swimmers they are. like u said “… love in the pool.”-> not their parents taught them how to swim or gave them the motivation
I just gave you another down-vote, because you seem to enjoy it.
Who knows? Welcome to the internet. Everyone here is awful…
While I do agree that she’s not a favorite, unless both Adams and McLaughlin are on their game you could see Bayer sneak in there for a spot. I doubt it takes 2:06 low, but should be under 2:07 for sure. If Bayer puts up a 2:07 at Jr Worlds, I think she could easily end up on a flight to Rio in eleven months.
I have a hunch it’s probably one or two people that figured out a work around to multi-vote. Otherwise it makes no sense. I wish there were only up votes. That way we can thank and support comments we like without cluttering things up posting “this” or “I agree.” If we don’t like a post we should respond and state why (or in some cases just ignore).
I agree with this.
This MVP Gator is excited for this young lady to shine again on the world stage. (3 grunts here)! Good luck Cassidy!
Who in the world doesn’t like Gator grunts!1 Bad person!
