Women’s 800m Freestyle – FINALS

Katie Ledecky picked up her third victory of the meet with a final time of 8:19.16 in the women’s 800 freestyle. The world record holder wasn’t able to run away with this event, however, as Becca Mann was only a little behind at 8:21.77. The pair finished with the two fastest times in the world this year.

Stephanie Peacock rounded out the podium with a time of 8:28.39, finishing just ahead of Leah Smith at 8:30.27.

Women’s 200m IM – FINALS

Caitlin Leverenz secured the victory in the 200 IM with the fourth fastest time in the world at 2:11.24. She touched just ahead of Melanie Marsalis’ 2:11.99.

Justine Bowker, Tanja Kylliainen, and Becca Mann finished third through fifth with 2:15’s. Sarah Henry and Brooke Geiger finished sixth and seventh at 2:16 and 2:17, respectively.

Men’s 200m IM – FINALS

After a long weekend of racing, Michael Phelps picked up his first victory of the 2015-2016 season with a 1:59.30 in the 200 IM. Phelps was the only swimmer in the field under 2:00, touching just ahead of Conor Dwyer at 2:00.73.  Phelps’ time falls at number four in the world this year after finishing the 2015 season with the fastest time in the world.

Carlos Claverie picked up a third place finish after winning the 200 breaststroke earlier in the week. He touched the wall in 2:03.04, just ahead of Guillermo Blanco at 2:14.18.

Chase Kalisz, Nolan Tesone, Dan Wallace, and Austin Surhoff all came in together in fifth through eighth with 2:04’s.

Women’s 200m Backstroke – FINALS

World Record Holder Missy Franklin won the 200 backstroke with the third fastest time in the world this year of 2:07.24. She is now swimming nearly identical times to the 2015 World Champion Emily Seebohm and Katinka Hosszu at the beginning of this Olympic year.

Maya DiRado and Dominque Bouchard were the only other swimmers that finished under 2:10 at 2:08.85 and 2:09.47, respectively.

Kylie Masse and 13 year-old Regan Smith finished fourth and fifth at 2:13.38 and 2:13.72.

Men’s 200m Backstroke – FINALS

Arkady Vyatchanin just missed posting a world top 5 time in the 200 backstroke with his winning time of 1:57.30. The fifth fastest time in the world this year is only .05 faster than his time from tonight’s final at 1:57.25.

Louisville teammates Grigory Tarasevich and Aaron Greene finished second and third in the 200 backstroke at 1:59.67 and 2:00.57, respectively. Corey Okubo finished fourth with a 2:01.93 and Paul Le finished fifth overall with a 2:02.88.

Women’s 100m Freestyle – FINALS

Abbey Weitzeil was out fast at the 50, touching first in 26.1, but it was Simone Manuel that was able to bring home the race, touching first in 54.19. Weitzeil was not far behind, however, finishing second at 54.46. Allison Schmitt and Katie Ledecky were the final two swimmers under 55 seconds at 54.90 and 54.95, respectively.

Men’s 100m Freestyle – FINALS

Nathan Adrian closed like a monster to win the men’s 100 freestyle with the third fastest time in the world this year of 48.49. Adrian just touched out Santo Condorelli who finished second with a 48.65.

Brazilian freestylers Joao de Lucca and Marcelo Chierighini finished third and fourth at 49.35 and 49.63, respectively. The Brazilian pair finished just ahead of Conor Dwyer, the fifth place finisher at 49.85.
