Surprisingly, the Longhorns are not out of this meet after prelims. If you include the 1650 (which is beginning this afternoon as a timed final), they have a full 11 swimmers coming back in finals. The challenge is that their 11 is not as good as Cal’s 11 – the Golden Bears have 8 in the A to Texas’ 5, and Cal’s 11 are generally much-higher seeded than Texas’ are. Remember that Texas could have two A-Finals.
The big boys all came to play on the last day of this meet. Arizona and Stanford have 8 and 9, respectively, in this final. That could set up a very interesting close – though Arizona is more likely to score diving points.
Another great battle will be up for grabs between Auburn and Michigan in the mile. It will come down to which team performs better in the meet-starting mile.
USC should (without another DQ) slide past Florida, and Indiana will again be counting on diving to hold off Ohio State for 1oth.

Basically, if Hinshaw beats Wilcox that probably seals the deal, barring DQ.
Even if Texas goes 1-2 in diving, and swim very well in the mile while Hinshaw does not, they would only be up like 25 on their seeded points. It’s possible that they could win, but Cal has moved up on finals seeding every night so far.
