14-year old Rafaela Raurich has broken her own Brazilian age record in the girls’ 200 meter (long course freestyle) while swimming at a regional tournament in Curitiba this weekend.
Raurich, who swims for the home team Curitibano, went a 2:03.37 in the 200 meter free, which cuts half-a-second from her own personal best in the event – that also happened to be the old record.
For a point of comparison, the time would put Raurich among the 40 fastest 13-14’s in USA Swimming history.
Raurich won that race by almost 11 seconds in the Juvenil (14-year olds) group, which was one of 9 wins in 10 entries. Other highlights include a 1:05.20 in the 100 back and a 58.25 in the 100 free.
