NCAP Invitational Day 2 Prelims Recap

2015 Nation’s Capital Invitational

Day 2 of the NCAP Invitational got underway this morning with the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard free, 100-yard fly, 400-yard IM and 200-yard freestyle relay. Here is a recap of the preliminary events with results available online.

100-yard Breaststroke

Anna Keating of Machine Aquatics posted an impressive time in the prelims of the 100-yard breast this morning (1:03.52). She is seeded first for tonight’s 13-14 100-yard breast A final, 2 seconds ahead of the field. The boys 13-14 A final will be a close race tonight, with 6 of the 8 finalists having a seed time of 1:00 high or 1:01 low. Machine Aquatics Aleksande Tarczynski will swim in lane 5, leading the pack in 1:00.41. The girls open will always be a race to watch, with Allie Szekely and Anna Belousova swimming in the middle lanes tonight, with seed times of 1:01.76 and 1:01.84 respectively. Reece Whitley will lead the pack in the A final of the boys open 100-yard breast, seeded in a time of 53.40, just 0.34 seconds off of his personal best and national age group record time.

200-yard Freestyle

Katie Mack of Nation’s Capital Swim Club will be one to watch in the girls 13-14 200-yard free, as she leads the A final by 3 seconds after an impressive morning swim (1:49.95). Her teammate Sean Conway also had an impressive preliminary swim, (1:43.39), leading tonight’s A final by more than a second. World record holder Katie Ledecky will swim in lane 4 tonight of the girls open 200-yard free after she posted 1:42.58 this morning, finishing 6 seconds ahead of the field. On the boys side, Machine Aquatics’s James Murphy is seeded 1st (1:3701), with Nation’s Capital’s Will Macmillan (1:38.69), Vince Regent (1:38.70) and Sam Pomajevich (1:38.72) following closely behind.

100-yard Butterfly

The boys 13-14 100-yard butterfly A final is packed with 6 swimmers seeded in 54 seconds, with Machine Aquatics’s Benjamin Charles leading the group in 53.81. 49.74 or less was good for a spot in the boys open 100-yard fly A final, with Greg Brocato leading the way with a seed time of 48.42. Nation’s Capital Swim Club teammates Katie Mack and Abby Harter will take the middle lanes in tonight’s girls 13-14 A final after posting morning times of 55.90 and 56.32 respectively.

The finals for todays events will start tonight at 5:45 p.m. eastern time.

And of course the live webcast on SW has crashed….
Anyway the qualify of the pictures was awful.
I wanted to watch Szekely, Ledecky and Whitley. 😥
