SWIMMING AND DIVING TO OHIO WESLEYAN: The two-day Ohio Wesleyan University Corbiere-Merion Invitational is next on Manchester University’s 2015-16 schedule.
Meet details: Events are set for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22, at the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center on OWU’s campus in Delaware, Ohio … Sessions start at 10 a.m. each day and 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening for swimming with diving set to start at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Spartan Shorts: A first half theme of rearranging the record board at their home Strauss-Peabody Aquatic Center continued at Urbana University of Ohio Nov. 14. The freshman women’s duo of Mikki Goetz (Highland, Ind.) and Jamie McBride (Elkhart, Ind.) set new school standards in the 1650-yard freestyle (Goetz – 22:11.29) and 50-yard breaststroke (McBride – 38.03 seconds), while fellow freshman Tyler Brand (Pendleton, Ind.) swam an 18:43.26 to set a new record in the 1650-yard freestyle … With that trio of marks highlighting a hard-fought battle with Urbana that resulted in narrow defeats (152-74 – women/130-98 – men), 25 new records (18 women, seven men) have been established in five weekends … The Corbiere-Merion Invite is the Spartans’ next-to-last pool opportunity prior to winter break. A dual at Illinois Tech follows Saturday, Dec. 5, with the schedule not resuming from that point until Saturday, Jan. 9, when the Black and Gold hosts Olivet College of Michigan.
